Copenhagen using LEDs to do more than light its streets

Imagine a city where the LEDs in streetlights not only light the way, but can tell you about traffic patterns, the weather or even when to take out the garbage. It is where Copenhagen is heading, the New York Times reports. The move toward more efficient cities with less costly infrastructure is one that hits home in New Orleans. The city is replacing many of its old light bulbs with more energy-efficient LEDs. Mayor Mitch Landrieu wants to spend $11 million on those upgrades in 2015.
