Danville to test LEDs in streetlights for energy savings

Danville could save 40 to 80 percent on energy used to light up the city’s streets by switching its high-pressure sodium lights to LEDs — if the bulbs perform as advertised. Interim Director of Danville Utilities Jason Gray told the Danville Utility Commission that before a change is made, he wants to test bulbs from various suppliers for performance, lifespan, reactions to heat and cold and ease of installation
