Optronics’ FusionX LED Combo Lamp Features Bold Styling
Before the introduction of Optronics’ Fusion Series LED combination lamps in 2014, vehicles used separate six-inch oval or four-inch round stop, tail, turn lamps and backup lamps. Each lamp needed its own mounting hole, and these holes were made in the vehicle body panels, frame posts, docking plates or gussets. Optronics Fusion lamps changed the equation by consolidating multiple lighting functions into a single lamp footprint, reducing complexity and cost, while maintaining structural integrity.
The addition of a compliant warning light function in the FusionX was a logical next step in the evolution of the Fusion Series.
Until now, combination lamps with warning light features have not met FMVSS 108 standards, because their flashing warning lights continue to operate even when their brake lights illuminate. The dual illumination patterns of these noncompliant lamps have the potential of confusing others on the road, by presenting them with mixed signals. The issue made these lamps impractical for many vehicles, particularly those in the utility, construction and roadside service sectors.
Optronics’ FusionX LED combination lamps solve this problem by disabling the warning light function as soon as the brake light is illuminated. The warning override feature helps eliminate potential misinterpretations by others on the road or worksite and allows the FusionX to fully meet FMVSS 108 requirements. The lamps also meet the SAE J595 standard for Class 2 and Class 3 directional warning lamps.

Transitioning to LEDs Will Help Alleviate Unprecedented Heatwave Sweeping Planet
This summer, the planet is experiencing record-breaking, hellish heatwaves that are endangering agriculture, economic activity, livelihoods, and even national security and the country's energy portfolio.
California Lightworks CEO George Mekhtarian, a former Silicon Valley engineer who started his company to develop LED lighting systems for cultivators, says that LEDs can play a pivotal role in combatting the climate crisis.
Upgrading old HID lighting systems to high efficiency LEDs is a simple way to combat climate change and ease the strain of sweltering summer heatwaves across the country," said Mekhtarian.
The Washington Post revealed more than 100 million people in the United States were subjected to record-high heat alerts as heat has soared as high as 115 degrees. Cities have declared states of emergency, pollution advisories due to dangerous levels of ozone have piled up, and wildfires have raged as a result of blistering heat.
In California, to ease the strain on California's energy grid, the state authorized the Market Access Program as a strategy to reduce peak demand and mitigate rolling blackouts. The program authorized $150 million to incentivize projects that contribute to energy savings. There are no cost caps and no product restrictions.
Growers in California have no time to waste, once the incentives dry up, that's it, said Mekhtarian. By upgrading to LEDs, growers in California are not only helping prevent rolling blackouts, they are also improving their bottom line by reducing utility costs, increasing yields and margins. All this while reducing their carbon footprint and minimizing climate impact, it's a triple win, added Mekhtarian.

Market Value of Micro LED Transparent AR Smart Glasses Chips Estimated at Approximately US$38.3 Million by 2026
Since 2021, more than 10 branded manufacturers around the world have launched Micro LED transparent AR smart glasses concepts and related suppliers have improved Micro LED technology and accelerated factory expansion in order to meet subsequent mass production planning. In 2026, the revenue of Micro LED transparent AR smart glasses chips is forecast at approximately US$38.3 million, with annual compound growth rate of Micro LED chips from 2023 to 2026 at approximately 704%.
However, the current difficulties encountered in the development of Micro LED transparent AR smart glasses mainly arise from optical waveguide technology, light engine technology, battery storage capacity, and image transmission issues. Since transparent smart glasses require high-resolution and high-brightness specifications for outdoor use, Micro LED is the first choice for its light engine.
At present, Micro LED light engine technology is not yet mature and the external quantum efficiency of red chips is too low. Problems regarding the miniaturization of microdisplays have appeared one by one. In addition, microdisplay sizes are too small, resulting in small field of view (FOV) so narrow as to affect viewing. If the optical waveguide design method is employed, optical efficiency falls at less than 1%, and incidental light must provide higher brightness to meet the specifications necessary for outdoor use of microdisplays. In addition, transparent smart glasses will need to be worn for a certain period of time. Therefore, battery lifespan and size directly affect product design. Furthermore, another major obstacle is finding a way to integrate the sensor to transmit and process image data.

Radiant Vision Systems Joins the MicroLED Industry Association
The MicroLED Industry Association was formed in 2022 to accelerate the adoption of microLED display technologies, bringing together companies, researchers, and organizations active in the microLED and providing a forum for solving common technology issues, fostering cooperation, and sharing relevant resources. The association’s mission is to ensure that the microLED display industry speaks in a uniformed voice and promote microLED display solutions. The association is actively seeking new members with the aim of assisting microLED innovators in reaching their marketing and development goals.
Radiant has developed solutions for quantifying the output of emissive displays for decades, including the first inspection system for pixel-level measurement of full-color OLED production test applications in 2004.
Like OLED, microLED quality relies on the consistent output of individual light-emitting subpixels. Inconsistencies in microLED brightness or color, inaccuracies during wafer-level transfer, and other fabrication issues can result in displays with a noticeable non-uniform or speckled appearance. Radiant’s pixel-level measurement methods enable imaging systems to capture highly accurate values of luminance and chromaticity at each emissive subpixel.
Signify has expanded its Ultra Efficient product lineup

LEDs made from perovskite, a titanium and calcium crystal are a potential alternative to silicon-based ones
The next best perovskite LEDs had only lasted for a few hundred hours before becoming unstable.
The key to this improved stability, is the introduction of a molecule called sulfobetaine 10 (SFB10), which is typically used as a detergent. The molecule attracts positive and negative ions that would normally move freely around in the perovskite crystal structure and compromise its stability. But with SFB10, the ions are prevented from moving.

North American Cabinet LED Lighting Industry is Expected to Grow to $3.6 Billion by 2028 -
Cabinet LED lighting is an energy-efficient technology, and demand for ENERGY STAR-rated products has risen in recent years in the US. Light fixtures must use 1/4th energy of traditional lighting, have lower energy bills and bulb replacements, have a lifetime of at least 10,000 hrs, and have even light distribution; these are factors considered to receive an Energy Star rating. The COVID-19 pandemic slowed down the growth of the construction of houses in North America. However, there will be an increase in the construction of houses in 2022.
For instance, as per the US Census Bureau and the US Department of Housing and Urban development for new residential construction in March 2022, the privately-owned housing units authorized by building perm building permits, housing starts, and housing completions are 1873000, 1793000, and 1303000, respectively. Development in residential sector will positively create more demand for LED lights, and thus in turn impacting the cabinet LED lighting market growth.
As per the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), in 2022, the construction of house sales will increase due to the government's favorable policy for buying homes. For instance, the Canadian government created real estate investment trusts (REITs) which investors widely use because they are easier to liquidate than traditional real estate investments. REITs also allow investors to diversify their holdings. For example, investors can invest US$ 1 in a portfolio of 100 properties instead of investing US$ 100 in a single property. The Canadian government has proposed a budget for 2022-2023 that focuses on achieving a goal of 100,000 net new housing units.
As a result, a new Housing Accelerator Fund has been established. The increasing usage of cabinet LED lighting in growing residential and commercial spaces is one of the prime drivers of cabinet LED lighting market growth. With the rise in urbanization, consumers are more inclined toward adopting energy-efficient products and services. Thus, the uptake of cabinet LED lighting is rising among end users, such as office spaces, hotels, restaurants, public administrative buildings, shopping malls, and recreational facilities to enhance decor and save electricity bills, driving the cabinet LED lighting market.
