Karnataka to switch over to LEDs

Using an LED (light emitting diode) bulb can curtail your electricity bill by almost 85%. Power starved Karnataka will soon make available LED bulbs at subsidized cost for all its electricity consumers.  "An LED bulb worth Rs 400 will be given at Rs 100 under the Centre's domestic efficient lighting programme (DELP)," said energy minister D K Shiva Kumar. That's not all. Karnataka government will also embark on a plan to replace all the street lights with LED bulbs.
