LEDs Can Control Food Contamination without Chemicals
In what promises to be an alternative food preservation technology, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have proven their potential in killing foodborne pathogens, without the need for any chemicals. A team of researchers from the National University of Singapore has demonstrated the efficacy of LEDs in inactivating foodborne pathogens such as Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella Typhimurium and Listeria monocytogenes.
