Mercedes-Benz readies smart-pixel LEDs with thousands of light points

Developed through a partnership with suppliers Infineon and Osram, the technology centers around a new LED chip populated by 1,024 individually controllable light points. The approach appears to bridge the gap between individual LEDs and high-resolution OLED display panels. The innovation eliminates the need to install separate LED driver modules side-by-side and stacked, which limits the number of controllable segments in current-generation adaptive LED headlights.
