Future Lighting Solutions has announced an expanded relationship with Royal Philips Electronics under which the companies will offer a broad range of LED lighting component solutions and services to assist OEM customers and integrators in developing finished solid state lighting products. One notable aspect of this new arrangement with Philips is the opportunity it creates for customers to leverage certain specifically marked LED light engines within Future’s simpleLED program against Philips’ LED based licensing program to help qualify their licensed luminaires for a 0% royalty payment. These specially marked LED light engines, utilizing Philips Lumileds LUXEON LEDs, will incorporate a readily identifiable clover shaped symbol belonging to Philips.
This arrangement – furthering Future’s 10-year exclusive LED distribution relationship with the Philips Lumileds organization – is designed to simplify LED luminaire development and accelerate time to market.
As previously announced, the arrangement enables LED lighting customers to acquire Philips’ LED light engine modules, driver modules and lighting controls, as well as to leverage Future’s SSL development tools and engineering resources in tandem with Philips’ products to accelerate time-to-market.
