Pasco, Franklin PUD receiving grant to replace streetlights
The Washington State Department of Commerce announced that it has awarded Franklin PUD and Pasco a grant to help replace streetlights in the city. The utility district and the city will receive more than $250,000 to switch out 1,725 of Pasco's current sodium lights with brighter, whiter, more energy efficient LEDs, or light-emitting diodes. Commerce says LEDs can last up to 20 years without being replaced. Switching from sodium lights to LEDs is expected to save Pasco more than $100,000 every year.
