Corning will celebrate 'mystery' connection to light bulb
Corning will sponsor The Days of Incandescence, a 12-day celebration in October that will illuminate Corning's role in the invention of the light bulb. Most people know inventor Thomas Edison created the light bulb. Organizers were looking for ways to promote Halloween in the Corning area, and some historical research revealed the role a mysterious boy played in bringing Edison and Corning together.
