At some point in the near future, the streets of
Philadelphia will look whiter at night. The warm yellow glow provided by the city’s 105,000 streetlights will become a thing of the past, as the city replaces traditional high-pressure sodium bulbs to LEDs, which have a whitish glare. That vision took a step forward this week when the City and Philadelphia Energy Authority put out a call for qualifications from contractors interested in helping LED-ify the city.
