River Walk may get new holiday sparkle

A proposal before the City Council of San Antonia would fundamentally change the colorful holiday light display that attracts thousands to the River Walk each year. The traditional 85,000 incandescent lights would be replaced by 1.76 million multicolored LED lights. The new lights are more energy efficient, but rather than cascading from the River Walk's tree canopy, they would be wrapped around tree trunks.
