Neofocal Systems raises $9 million
Neofocal Systems, a Tigard company developing LED-lighting technology, disclosed in a regulatory filing this past week that it has raised $9 million in outside investment. The company has a low profile but an intriguing pedigree – its chief executive and chief technologist is a prominent physicist and online security researcher named Tsutomu Shimomura, who runs the company from his office in Incline Village, Nevada. His co-inventors, though, work in the Tigard office with a dozen employees.
