City adding LEDs to traffic lights
Fort Wayne will soon have closed-circuit traffic cameras at some of the city’s busiest intersections. The Board of Public Works also approved a project that will put LEDs in traffic signals at approximately 300 intersections. The LEDs will be energy efficient and black plates will be installed to help with visibility. Another project will include putting crosswalk signals with countdown clocks at places across Fort Wayne. The city will also connect 69 traffic signals with the city’s other 298 signals. That project will put every traffic signal in Fort Wayne into a central monitoring system.
