Telford Borough considers converting streelights to LEDs
At a borough council meeting, Borough Manager Mark Fournier told council members he is considering having PPL convert Telford’s streetlights from traditional lights to LED lights. Fournier said PPL owns, operates and maintains all of the streetlights in the borough. Telford is responsible for paying the electric bill. Fournier said the electric bill for the lights is about $57,000 annually. The LEDs would cost about $500 annually. The borough would pay for the installation through payments tacked onto their electric bill. He said looking at how long the payback would be key in deciding whether to install them. He will continue to research the topic.
