Concord upgrades lighting throughout campus
Concord University held a ribbon cutting on Friday to celebrate the completion of an innovative project. Helios Energy out of Nashville has been working to get the whole campus on LED Energy Lighting. This was implemented to eliminate 20,000 linear fluorescent and 47,000 CFL lamps. The goal was to reduce consumption for lighting by 65 percent annually, and eliminate the cost of replacing fluorescent lamps and ballast. Those lamps contain harmful elements, like Mercury and PCB's, that are bad for the environment.
