City of Newburgh to convert streetlights to LEDs
The City of Newburgh is in the discussion stage with the New York Power Authority about converting all its streetlights to LEDs.
It will cost approximately $1.3 million, but the city would pay it off over seven years with a savings of an estimated $314,000 a year once the loan from the Power Authority is paid off.
The new lights will reduce greenhouse gas, lower energy consumption, provide better lighting for motorists and pedestrians, and save taxpayer money.
