Signify upgrades Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box with HDMI 2.1

Smart home leader Signify has unveiled the new Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box 8K, along with the Ensis pendant light and several software updates. This long-awaited upgrade to the Hue sync box now supports HDMI 2.1, enabling resolutions up to 8K and frame rates up to 120Hz.

This enhancement ensures full compatibility with the PS5 and Xbox One, offering an improved gaming experience.

The new HDMI sync box retains its previous design but now supports HDMI 2.1, 8K, and 120Hz. It accepts inputs from devices like Apple TV and gaming consoles, then connects to your TV, allowing your selected lights to mirror the on-screen content.

Signify offers various lights compatible with the sync box, including a light strip for the back of the TV, Play bars around it, and stand lights for the room’s corners.
