Orlando City Council approves LED display upgrades for Kia Center

The Kia Center is accelerating its $226 million upgrade project following approval from the Orlando City Council to begin contract negotiations with ANC Sports Enterprise for comprehensive LED display enhancements, according to Ryan Lynch of the Orlando Business Journal. The proposed two-year agreement includes $9.66 million for equipment and related services, with an option to extend the contract annually for up to seven additional years.

Planned improvements will cover LED updates to the center scoreboard, various screens, and illuminated signage—including the arena’s iconic O-Zone sign. City of Orlando spokesperson Andrea Otero stated that work is slated to start this summer and wrap up before the fall seasons of the Orlando Magic and ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears. Despite ongoing construction, the venue will stay open for scheduled events.

The renovation project is partially funded by Orange County’s Tourist Development Tax and aims to modernize the 14-year-old arena by upgrading building systems. Otero also noted that the city is currently soliciting bids for main bowl sound system improvements and a full overhaul of the video control room.
