Pixel-Flo secures £5.25 million to scale microLED manufacturing technology

UK-based startup Pixel-Flo has raised £5.25 million in seed funding to accelerate the development of its microLED manufacturing technology. The investment round was led by Northern Gritstone, with participation from SCVC, Parkwalk, and HTGF.

Founded in 2023 by Rick Smith, Suneal Ghataora, and Simon Jones, Pixel-Flo is developing Continuous-Flo™, a manufacturing process designed to replace conventional pick-and-place assembly. Instead of positioning each microLED individually with robotic systems, the technology uses fluid dynamics to guide chips into place automatically, enabling faster, more scalable, and potentially lower-cost production.

The newly raised capital will help the company move from laboratory development toward commercial manufacturing. Pixel-Flo also plans to expand its team and deepen collaborations with industry partners evaluating the technology for future production.

MicroLED displays are widely regarded as the next generation of display technology thanks to their high brightness, energy efficiency, and long lifespan. However, manufacturing costs have remained a major barrier to widespread adoption. Pixel-Flo aims to address this challenge by making microLED production more efficient and economically viable.
