Norwalk-based Trans-Lux Partners with University of Rochester
Most people in the Norwalk area associate the name Trans-Lux with the successful chain of movie theaters that were prominent in Fairfield County and the New York metro region through the 1980s. What you may not know is that the Norwalk-based innovator in screen projection systems, which sold-off its movie theater business (now Storyteller Theaters) years ago, has since reinvented itself to become a leader in video displays and LED lighting systems.
Recently Trans-Lux announced that has forged a partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) to develop new applications for LEDs in the lighting and video display categories. As part of this, the university has committed to replacing about 20 percent of the lighting throughout the campus with Trans-Lux developed LED lighting systems, in keeping with the university’s commitment to eco-sustainability practices. In addition the university will be installing various Trans-Lux-made LED displays throughout campus that will be used for both educational and administrative purposes.
