LEDs will soon light up the night in Providence
The city of Providence plans to install about 16,800 light-emitting diode, better known as "LED," streetlights this fall. LEDs are marketed as the brighter, more cost effective light source in modern times. The fixtures that will hold these new bulbs will come equipped with small transmitters that can trigger each light's on/off status and allow a central control to brighten or dim each individual light, according to a report by the Providence Journal.
