Philly just took a step toward getting LED streetlights citywide
At some point in the near future, the streets of Philadelphia will look whiter at night. The warm yellow glow provided by the city’s 105,000 streetlights will become a thing of the past, as the city replaces traditional high-pressure sodium bulbs to LEDs, which have a whitish glare. That vision took a step forward this week when the City and Philadelphia Energy Authority put out a call for qualifications from contractors interested in helping LED-ify the city.
