Brazil authorizes use of infrastructure bonds for street lighting PPPs

Brazil’s regional development ministry has in principle authorized the use of infrastructure bonds to finance street lighting PPPs.

Each street lighting PPP, however, must receive final approval from the ministry to become eligible for this financing mechanism.

“The federal government has been giving great support to public lighting projects in recent months and this is another measure to stimulate investments in this very important sector, in partnership with the private sector,” regional development minister Rogério Marinho said in a press release.
