Lima to install new lighting
The City of Lima has announced a new initiative to improve lighting throughout the city. At a recent press conference, Mayor Sharetta Smith discussed the project, which will use $350,000 to install various types of lights, including cobra-style and decorative street lights.
The goal of the project is to improve safety and reduce crime in neighborhoods, as identified in the Better Together plan. The first set of locations for the new streetlights has been announced, with 10 locations receiving cobra-style LED lights and two locations receiving decorative lighting.
According to a press release, the new lights will be installed in October and November of this year at various locations to address crime, improve safety at railroads and school crossings, and prevent pedestrian crashes.
