Bright LEDs put growing number of Milwaukee storefronts in spotlight
For a growing number of small retail shops in Milwaukee, the guiding light is the LED. Cheap to operate — many places leave them on 24 hours a day — and flashy as an Elvis jumpsuit, the eye-catching lights are changing the streetscape along some commercial strips. Easily more than 100 businesses here have installed them, usually stringing them around borders of windows and doors. The owner of one sign and light company here claims to have fitted out more than 300 locations across the area.
