The real reason for the LED push

Manufacturers of LEDs are pulling out all the stops and pushing their products to market with ever-increasing claims of greater efficiency, performance, lower cost, and more, but those aren’t the only reasons for the push. Recently GE Lighting announced that it will stop CFL bulb production by the end of 2016. According to GE, in 2015 incandescent bulbs represented 38% of the market, followed by halogen at 26%, CFLs at 15%, LEDs at 15%, and linear fluorescent at 6%.
