LEDVANCE Celebrates New Sustainability Milestone with First EPD Declaration for A LED Tube
LEDVANCE, a global leader in lighting solutions, announced the first third-party verified and published Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for a LED tube. This is a further milestone in a series of significant achievements in the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental and corporate social responsibility.
The EPD underlines LEDVANCE’s ambition to set new standards for the industry. For an EPD, the environmental performance of a product’s life cycle is evaluated in a transparent, systematic analysis, displaying several indicators such as global warming potential or the depletion of abiotic resources. LEDVANCE is committed to having externally verified EPDs for at least 80 percent of the entire professional luminaire portfolio in Europe by the end of 2026.
Sustainability milestones – distinct product lines and resource saving approaches
The latest EDP declaration for a LEDVANCE product marks another decisive step on the journey towards sustainability in the lighting industry. Recently, LEDVANCE has further strengthened this approach with new products in the EVERLOOP portfolio. In keeping with the principles of the circular economy, critical components of the new luminaires such as light sources and drivers can be upgraded easily. This maximizes the lifespan of the luminaires, saves resources and avoids waste.
The NATURELOOP portfolio, a product range originally targeted specifically for consumers, LEDVANCE now also positions as a sustainable option for lighting professionals. The LED Classic NATURELOOP lamps for general lighting purposes in private and public areas feature housing and diffusors that either contain plastic components with at least 40 percent post-consumer recycled plastics* or aluminum housing made entirely from 100 percent recycled aluminum.
The ultra-long-life LED luminaires from the recently introduced LEDVANCE MULTI SELECT portfolio combine flexibility and a sustainable approach: With up to nine products combined in one, the product range allows to easily set the luminous flux (lm) levels and/or light color on the driver or luminaire with a simple switch. The variety of luminaire types with this functionality help reduce energy consumption, minimize maintenance costs, and allows wholesalers to optimize their inventory, without reducing their overall product offering.
