LEDs will be throughout Saratoga by end of summer

Saratoga is about to get lit. For green energy, that is. Energy-efficient LED bulbs will soon replace the city’s current high-pressure sodium vapor bulbs throughout much of Saratoga. The city council agreed at its June 21 meeting to have PG&E replace all city-owned streetlights with LEDs that use 50 to 75 percent less energy. Last year, PG&E replaced all lights it owns within the city limits with LEDs, and now its offered to do the same for the nearly 80 lights the city owns. The utility company will dispose of the old bulbs.
