Webinar: Measuring LEDs and Lasers for Near-IR Sensing Applications

Near-infrared light has provided a new invisible interface for our devices. Most remote sensing systems in consumer electronics apply near-IR light for illumination, time of flight (TOF), and pattern analysis, enabling operations like facial recognition, gesture control, proximity sensing, and object mapping. Near-IR sources and cameras are being rapidly integrated into new products, particularly for sensing within the human visual field, which has elevated the importance of light source characterization during design and manufacture.

To ensure the performance and eye safety of light beyond the human visible spectrum, manufacturers must measure the intensity of beams and patterns produced by near-IR LEDs and lasers. However, traditional light source measurement methods cannot keep up with the high-volume production demands of devices like smartphones and extended reality (XR) headsets. The challenge calls for a measurement solution that is fast, easy to deploy, and practical for in-line testing.

In this webinar, Mike Caputo from Radiant Vision Systems presents measurement methods for near-IR light sources and demonstrates the capabilities of Radiant’s NIR Intensity Lens solution for measuring sources faster and easier than ever before.
