Over 11,000 Energy-Efficient LED Lights Set To Illuminate Guwahati
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to unveil the first phase of the Smart Street Lighting Project with Centralized Control and Monitoring Systems (CCMS) in Guwahati today.
The inauguration ceremony will take place at Nandi Mikir Primary School, Chachal, Guwahati, with Ashok Singhal, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, and Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, in attendance.
This project will see the installation of over 11,000 energy-efficient LED street lights, aiming to create a safer, smarter, and more sustainable street lighting system.
With a total cost of Rs 83.96 crore, the project is expected to illuminate the city, reduce energy consumption, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of Guwahati’s streets.
The CCMS will enable real-time monitoring and control of the street lights, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance. Notable features include group control options for on/off/dim functionality via a cloud-based management system, and automatic dimming after midnight to keep operational costs in check.
