Fairfax County now accepting LED bulbs for recycling at waste sites
Fairfax County’s Department of Public Works and Environmental Services is offering a new recycling option for Light-emitting Diode (LED) bulbs, which can contain hazardous substances such as lead, nickel, silver, copper and arsenic. LEDs are not currently accepted in the regular blue-bin curbside recycling stream. However, “to promote environmental sustainability practices,” Fairfax County residents can now recycle those LEDs by dropping them off at the County’s I-66 transfer station in Fairfax and the I-95 landfill site in Lorton. There is no fee.
