Weather delays WF LED light conversion project

City of Wichita Falls officials said weather has delayed their LED light conversion project. Last summer, city workers began to convert 5,700 streets with LED bulbs. So far, 45 percent is complete which includes all residential neighborhoods. Larry Wilkinson, the city’s traffic attendant, said the weather has delayed work on the city’s busiest roads. “The ground is so saturated there’s just some things that we have a hard time getting to because the ground is saturated," Wilkinson said. “If we go in there and try to do that, it could be a safety hazard or cause more problems we can repair. Being able to reach the high mass lights with bucket trucks, you have to be careful there so you don’t sink in there in the mud and create a bigger problem." (Photo: Travis K. Witt).
